Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 21st, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she first gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently release single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year because he was hoping for Rihanna to be able work together on a few references. It was announced on the 8th of December that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she performed together with Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. On October 21, 2016 the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. The 9th of November saw her release two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. In February 2019, her music video to this song was released. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views within a week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
